June 12,2023 Homer Township Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM by Pat Prodzinski. Harlan has well issues.
The minutes were read. Frank made a motion to accept. Pat 2nd. Minutes were approved.
Jeff Suchamel / Roseanne Naunheim for a cup to build a vacation home on their property on Government Pointe Road. There was discussion on the property, where the home would be, whether it could be seen from Hwy 61 and the classification of the land being used for the site. Jeff answered questions from the boards and community members. Frank made a motion to support the CUP for the Suchamel / Naunheim Families. Pat 2nd the motion. Papers were signed for the county.
Paul Bissen is asking the township us to partner with CP Rail for a new crossing for Homer Landing Lane. Hopefully it would be a cement on like the sand pile has. Pat will work on the issue.
We received a letter from Pickwick Fire asking for a letter of verification of their work In our area. The letter was signed and will be sent.
The keys to the building will not be shared but we will try to make ourselves available when possible.
We have not done planned maintenance on the building. If things broke, they were fixed. As of now nothing will be planned until the decision is made whether we renovate or build new. Lance asked about planned maintenance in the future. Pat said that it was a good plan and asked that the question be brought up again after a decision.
George asked about drainage by the back entry. No estimate for trenching but Joe says that it should only take a day to dig down 6-8 inches and add some drain tile. Joe has the estimate for the gutters at about $ 800. The shop would be about $900. Pat suggested that we wait until the vote for the gutters but to do the trenching.
Michael Busch asked about the diagrams for the new building. Pat shared the pictures.
Pat talked about bids. We got one from Weiser but it is insufficient, so unavailable until next month. Pat and Jim will meet with them and get their question answered. Unfortunately, two companies decided not to bid on this project. Market and Johnson declined to bid on either project, new or renovation.
Still waiting on bids from Fowler and Hammer.
Dana asked about gravel on Otter Drive. The board had approved the gravel.
PJ asked about bids on new building, Brickl Brothers will be submitting a bid. Waiting on a few more.
Pat brought up the sign post. The sign board will be decided when the vote is done also.
Anonymous complaint about trash on private property.
Anne had questions about the ARPA funds. No decision has to be made until December 2024 and money spent before 2026. Unsure of how the voting process will work since the hall isn’t big enough for all constituents.
PJ Thompson discussed Homer Heritage Day. June 24 10am -5pm. There will be tours of Bunnel House, Homer church and hopefully Town Hall. Frank made a motion that Heritage Day go forward as long as Matt Insurance agree that it would be covered. Harlan 2nd. Motion approved.
Cost sharing for Septic. Pat talked to Lew Overhaug and it may be possible that we could get about 50-75% cost sharing, but we need to get a bid and get the paperwork into the county and get on the list. This is available until 2024. Scott put the flag up and will get a solar light up. Jeanne asked if the bell was in working order. Harlan said there is no longer a rope to ring the bell. Kim read a thank you from Homer Cemetery group for the cleanup of fallen trees on the road.
Harlan talked about the recall on truck. Its under warranty. It also needs to go Universal for a sander leak. The grader is s are cleaned and serviced. Gravel will be hauled and spread shortly. Harlan started mowing right of way today. Skip Ellings would like a load of rock on the road. No calcium until gravel is laid. Harlan will call about spraying brush on hillside.
Pat made a motion to adjourn. Frank 2nd. The meeting adjourned at 6:30PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Rita Prodzinski, Clerk
