December 11,2023 Homer Township Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Harlan Larsen. Rita read the minutes. Pat made a motion to accept, Frank 2nd. The motion carried.
Catie and Jim Ziemer are seeking a variance to build a shed with a 30-foot set back rather than the required 300 ft. setback from highway 61. there was a discussion by the board. Frank made a motion that they send the papers back with no comment. Pat 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
Rita read the notice to file ad that will appear in the Winona Post on Thursday
We received a call concerning the Neuman property. This person would like the board to send a letter to the county engineer relating her concerns. There was a bit of discussion on this problem. Pat made a motion that we do nothing. Frank 2nd. Motion carried.
Kim received an email from the insurance company concerning the storm damage. We should receive payment in 3-4 weeks.
The culvert at Bronner’s property has been repaired.
Pat opened the bids for the new building
Keller– $293,683. + add on $25,700=$ 319,383
Lester -$188,888. +add on $25,700 =$214,588.
Pat made a motion that we go with the lower bid from Lester Building and added to his motion another $20,000. So, the ad will say $235,000. For the new building.
There was discussion concerning covid funds.
The bids were opened for the renovation.
Weiser – $395,000. + $14,704 = $410,310.
Puetz – $379,302.76 + $14,704 = $394,302.76
These are not to exceed bids. There was discussion concerning the bids, parking, septic, covid funds and extras added to the renovations. We are on a wait list for grant money to help with septic. Both bidders came with good reviews. Frank made a motion to accept the lower bid. Pat 2nd. Motion carried.
There was a discussion about the cost of the building and property taxes. Because of the covid money added to our account, we should not have to raise taxes.
Frank made a motion to adjourn, Pat 2nd. Meeting adjourned at 6:35 pm.
